Josh Hogan is a Percussionist, Composer and Producer based in Perth, Western Australia, whose performances have come to be recognised for their deep sense of style, energy, musicianship and commitment. His creative projects seek to engage a broad cross section of audiences ranging from contemporary, popular and folk music audiences right through to classical and experimental musics.

Formal Artistic credits to his name include his debut CD of original music Urban Sound Mythologies, the production of the show <insert space here…>  in collaboration with world-renowned Swiss improviser Fritz Hauser, the co-production with didgeridoo player William Barton of the show Songlines for the 2005 Ravello Chamber Music Festival in Italy, a 2007 commission by Tetrafide Percussion - Beasts of Reason, for Percussion Quartet and processing. He was also the recipient of a 12-month residential scholarship to the Italian Communications Research Centre, Fabrica, in 2005.

As a performer he has had a diverse career since graduating from a Bachelor of Music at the University of Western Australia in 2003. He is a current member of Tetrafide Percussion, which in 2008 alone performed more than 100 school shows through the Musica Viva in schools program, as well as tours to regional WA, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia. Along with Steve Richter, he forms one half of the percussion duo Taal Naan, and has composed, recorded and mixed a number of tracks from their debut CD production, Rhythm Bred. He was a featured soloist with the 2005 Brisbane Biennial festival of Music Production Credo, a position that led to a 12 month residential scholarship at Fabrica, the Benetton Communications and Arts Research Institution in Treviso, Italy. During his time there he collaborated with Didgeridoo Artist William Barton on the Songlines project as well as Credo, and produced a recording with Melbourne based Pianist Gemma Turvey. Along with Turvey he forms the duo Akin, for whom he has also produced a number of original recordings.

He is currently working as an artist-in-residence and the Indian performing arts instituion Darpana, in Ahmedabad, India, where he is composing and producing the music for the dance-theatre show Naada, to be premiered at the 2009 Vikram Sarabhai Arts Festival.
